Help us expand our work with a financial contribution this Easter. As a charity, we rely on the support of people who appreciate the value of the work we do in developing practical, enterprise-based approaches to the world’s problems. Our objective is to help reshape the debate on international development and world trade.
We are not affiliated to any particular political party; our research is intended to be of practical use to governments of all political persuasions. We are extremely effective at getting media coverage, with GI personnel appearing on shows such as the flagship BBC programmes Today and Newsnight, along with regular appearances on channels like Sky News, ITV News, Channel Four News, CNN, CNBC, the World Service, BBC 1’s Breakfast, BBC News 24, and BBC World. But we need your help to expand our work. We rely entirely on private support: to preserve our independence, we receive no government funding. Here are some ways you can invest in our work. Podcasting equipment We’ve recently started podcasting: we’re going to be interviewing experts on global issues. We find that students particularly value the ability to listen to the GI in audio. We’ve been borrowing equipment so far and now need to buy our own. What we need is: An Olympus DS-2 Digital Voice Recorder which records the podcasts in CD quality and gets them on a computer for us. They are £96.35 on Amazon.co.uk. Order one for us from Amazon or donate via credit card (PayPal). We also need a couple of tie-clip microphones to use with the Olympus which will cost us about £30 each. Donate a microphone by credit card (PayPal).
Our reports cost £1,000 a time to print (basically we run small print runs of 500, at £2 a time, which go out to selected politicians and journalists). Add your support to our work with a donation of £1000 by credit card (PayPal). Or support the mailing and marketing of the report with a donation of £1000 by credit card (PayPal). Offices We’re sorted until the beginning of November. But we need to raise £900 a month in rent from then onwards. Being within walking distance of Parliament and DFID is vital to our ability to promote good thinking in the Westminster village on our issues. Support our work with a donation of a month’s rent. Or pay for a year’s broadband internet for £300 (donate by credit card/PayPal), a year’s hosting of our website for £350 (donate by credit card/PayPal), four telephone lines and calls for £800 a year (donate by credit card/PayPal), or an extra computer so we can have an additional intern working for £600 (donate by credit card/PayPal). As an investor in our work, we’ll keep you up to date with our work, invite you to our annual London summer party, and ensure you have priority to attend our other events. If you want to donate a different amount to those above, click on the PayPal button below. You can also mail a cheque to the Globalisation Institute, Suite 58, 95 Wilton Road, London SW1V 1BZ, or
