Challenges facing the G8 world leaders

I was on Britain's ITV News Channel today talking about the challenges facing the participants of the forthcoming G8 Summit in Scotland. For me, the biggest challenge is to get trade back on the agenda, rather than placing the emphasis on aid. Many of the Africans I speak to find it odd - and insulting - that the developed world talks about aid while at the same hindering them from trading themselves out of poverty. It is easy for Gordon Brown to offer more aid: but we are going to do little to make poverty history without getting rid of EU and US tariffs.
