John Howard: trade is better than aid

Prime Minister John Howard has told developing countries to eliminate corruption and ensure fair governance if they want continued assistance from the developed world. In a strongly worded address to the closing session at the World Economic Forum in Switzerland on Friday, Mr Howard said free trade access was the most effective way of helping under developed countries which must in turn provide open and democratic environments.
